June 2010
The Australian High Commission has invited Professor Tim Lindsey to visit Brunei in June as part of its 2009-2010 Public Diplomacy theme of “Islam in Australia”.
Professor Lindsey is ARC Federation Fellow and Director of the Asian Law Centre, and Co-Director of the Centre for Islamic Law and Society. Professor Lindsey teaches at the University of Melbourne and specialises in law, syariah (Islamic law), comparative law and law reform in developing countries.
While in Brunei, Professor Lindsey will be meeting with various government ministries to discuss Islam, the study of Islam and Islamic Finance in Australia, and also discuss regional outreach programs conducted by Australia with Islamic communities. The highlight of the visit will be an open public lecture.
